Abstract

Caisim (Brassica juncea L.) is one of the most popular types of vegetables, as caisim vegetable are known as mustard greens which have various health benefits. Hydroponic cultivation technique is one of the efforts that can be done to meet the target of vegetable crop production. In general, in hydroponic cultivation, the nutrients used are AB Mix nutrients (inoarganic chemistry), therefore a study was conducted to determine the effect of Liquid Organic Fertilizer various fruit waste as alternative nutrients to replace AB Mix nutrients on the growth and yield of caisim (Brassica juncea L.) plants. This research was conducted at the Hydroponic House, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. This research was conducted from July to October 2021. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method. This study consisted of 8 treatments, each experiment consisted of 4 replications and there were 32 treatment units, so that in total there were 96 plants. The treatment factors used in this study were P₀ (AB Mix), P₁ (Banana Liquid Organic Fertilizer), P₂ (Pineapple Liquid Organic Fertilizer), P₃ (Papaya Liquid Organic Fertilizer), P₄ (Pineapple and banana Liquid Organic Fertilizer), P₅ ( Pineapple and papaya Liquid Organic Fertilizer), P₆ ( Banana + Papaya Liquid Organic Fertilizer), and P₇ ( Banana + Pineapple + Papaya Liquid Organic Fertilizer). Parameters observed in this study are plant crown height, number of leaves, leaf greenness, leaf area, root length, crown fresh weight, root fresh weight, crown dry weight, root dry weight, and root crown ratio.The results showed that the AB Mix experiment was significantly different from the liquid organic fertilizer of fruit waste.
