Abstract

Red lettuce is a leafy vegetable contains high nutrients and vitamins beneficial for human health. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of population densities and application rates of solid organic fertilizer on growth and yield of the red lettuce. The research was started from May 2021 to June 2021 atJakabaring (104º46'44" E; 3º01'35" S), Palembang. Population density was varied from 1 to 3 plants/pot and rates of the fertilizer application consisted of 100, 125, and 150 g/plant. Each treatment combination was replicated 3 times and each replication consisted of 3 pots. The treatment combinations were arranged according to factorial randomized block design. Result of this study revealed that the highest yield per potof red lettuce was achieved in population density at 3 plants/pot and fertilized at rate of 100 g/plant, since higher rates of fertilizer application did not increase yield.
