Abstract

This study aims to obtain pineapple germplasm to be developed as superior seedlings and for collection, and to identify pineapple germplasm obtained from several areas (ecotypes) of pineapple producers in South Sumatra (Burai, Ogan Ilir; Karang Jaya and Patih Galung, Prabumulih; Lubuk Karet, Banyuasin; Embacang, Muara Enim). Furthermore, the planting materials that had been obtained in the form of slips, suckers, and crowns were planted next to the shadow house using a planter bag with a size of 75 liters. This research was conducted next to the Shadow House, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, from August 2020 to August 2021. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. This research has succeeded in collecting 7 germplasm ecotypes of pineapple from several areas in South Sumatra, i.e. Burai, Karang Jaya, Embacang, Lubuk Karet and Patih Galung. The germplasm collection was amounted to 43 plants which were propagated using slips, suckers, and crowns. In general, the highest pineapple plants propagated using slips and suckers were the Sedongkok ecotype, for those propagated using the crown was the Karangjaya1 ecotype. The highest number of leaves that propagated using slips was the Sedongkok ecotype, while those propagated using suckers and crowns were the Embacang ecotype. The highest leaf length and width which propagated using suckers and crowns were the Sedongkok, Patihgaluh, Karangjaya1 and Embacang ecotypes. The highest crown diameter of pineapple plants propagated using slips and suckers was the Sedongkok ecotype, while those propagated using the crown were the Karangyajaya ecotype1.
