Abstract

Palm oil is a plant that produces food oil, industrial oil, and biofuel or biodiesel. Palm oil is Indonesia's mainstay as an export commodity and to meet domestic needs. Decreased production and productivity of oil palm can occur due to disturbance of plant-disturbing organisms. One of the problems in oil palm plantations is stem rot disease caused by Ganoderma boninense . Ganoderma boninense causes stem rot symptoms or upper stem rot disease . Pathogens that cause stem rot disease in oil palm are primary pathogens because signs of disease in the form of fruiting bodies can be found in parts of plants that are still developing . Terna plants such as galangal as a trap plants, so they can also be potential antagonists against G. boninense . This study aimed to examine the effect of Ganoderma boninense double infection on oil palm and red ginger seedlings using rubber wood inoculum sources with different sizes on disease severity in oil palm. This research was carried out from May to November 2020 at the shadow house and experimental phytopathology laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a factorial randomized design (RAKF) with factor A being the host plant which consisted of 3 levels, namely multiple hosts (Palm + Galangal (S + L ), single host (Palm (S), and Galangal ( L ) and factor B was a measure of The inoculum consisted of 4 levels, namely 0 cm 3 (Control), 60 cm 3 (1/4 BKK was colonized by G. boninense ), 120 cm 3 (1/2 BKK was colonized by G. boninense ), 240 (1 BKK was colonized by G. boninense ). ) with 5 replicates. After 3 months of inoculation, it was found that both multiple hosts (S + L ) and single hosts (S and L ) showed primary symptoms in the form of root necrosis and weevil of oil palm seedlings and signs of disease in the form of fruit bodies that appeared in BKK colonized by Ganoderma mycelium . Larger inoculum means more infection and higher growth inhibition in oil palm plants with double infection with Galangal . Galangal cannot resist infection with oil palm . Oil palm grows faster when planted with galangal than just planted with oil palm. Keyword : Oil palm, Ganoderma boninense, Galangal
