Abstract

Studi komunitas makrozoobenthos di Perairan Sungai Musi sekitar Industri PT. PUSRI (Persero) Palembang Sumatera Selatan telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei hingga Oktober 2009. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur dan fungsi komunitas makrozoobenthos di Perairan Sungai Musi sekitar industri PT. PUSRI (Persero) Palembang. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode Purposive Random Sampling pada 6 stasiun dengan 3 kali ulangan. Identifikasi sampel makrozoobenthos dilakukan di Laboratorium Fisioogi dan taksonomi Hewan, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya, sedangkan analisa fisika dan kimia substrat dasar perairan dilakukan di Laboratorium Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan 8 genera makrozoobenthos yang dikelompokkan ke dalam 6 kelas yaitu Gastropoda, Polychaeta, Bivalvia, Oligochaeta, Insecta dan Crustacea. Kepadatan berkisar antara 175 - 775 individu/m2. Tingkat keanekaragaman tergolong rendah, berkisar antara 0,959-1,36. Tidak ditemukan spesies yang mendominasi dan struktur komunitas antar stasiun juga relatif sama. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan faktor fisika dan kimia substrat yang mempengaruhi masing-masing stasiun pengamatan. Kata Kunci : Struktur Komunitas, Makrozoobenthos, Sungai Musi
