Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Untuk menguji kemampuan lapisan subsoil ultisol pada berbagai vegetasi dan penambahan kompos jerami sebagai media tanah jagung manis (.Zea Mays. L). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah plastik (semi bayang) pada bulan November 2012 sampai Februari 2013. Analisis tanah dan tanaman dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia, Biologi dan Kesuburan Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya. Metode yang digunakan RAK Faktorial terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu 1) Tanah Lapisan Subsoil Berbagai Vegetasi (Ti = Subsoil Vegetasi Sawit ; T2 = Subsoil Vegetasi Karet; T3 = Subsoil Vegetasi Alang-alang), 2) Kompos Jerami (Ko = Tanpa Kompos ; Ki = 10 ton ha'1 ; K2 = 20 ton ha'1 ; K3 = 30 ton ha'1. Setiap kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Peubah yang diamati yaitu analisis tanah awal, analisis tanah setelah generatif : pH tanah, C-Organik, N-total, P-tersedia, K-dd, tinggi tanaman, berat basah brangkasan dan berat kering. Pemberian kompos jerami dapat memperbaiki sifat kimia tanah dan mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman jagung tetapi lebih lanjut perlu adanya dosis yang lebih besar (lebih dari 30 ton ha'1) sehingga peningkatannya masa lebih optimum, Pemberian kompos jerami pada taraf dosis 20 ton ha'1 memberikan pengaruh yang terbaik dalam meningkatkan kandungan C-Organik, N-total, K-dd dan berat kering sedangkan untuk reaksi tanah (pH), P-tersedia, tinggi tanaman dan berat basah brangkas, taraf dosis 30 ton ha'1 terbaik.
