Abstract

A research has been done about fuel cell electrode performance on alkaline fuel cell (AFC) device was produced by electrodeposition using Pt/C and Pt-Cr/C catalys. Then research began by designing and assembling equipment alkaline fuel cell (AFC) using acrylic glass. Electrode performance analysis of Pt/C and Pt-Cr/C was conducted on alkaline fuel cell device use electrolyte concentration 30%. As supporting data, is also the optimal reaction time analysis. Analysis of physical hydrophobicity with water dripping on the surface of the electrode at the same volume. The results of research showed that the electrode performance test on the content of the catalyst that has the highest average voltage found in test 0.8 mg/cm2 Pt catalyst and the catalyst Pt-Cr/C 0.2/0.8 for 2.985 volt and 2.433 volt. Analysis of the optimal reaction time showed that on average the optimal reaction time occurs in first 6 minutes. The results of hydrophobicity showed that the electrode Pt/C and Pt-Cr/C when installed on alkaline fuel cell equipment are all hydrophobic.
