Abstract

Penelitian laju dekomposisi serasah daun Avicennia dan Sonneratia dilakukan pada bulan April sampai Mei 2007 di kawasan hutan mangrove Tanjung Api-api Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental di 3 stasiun yang dibedakan berdasarkan pengaruh dari salinitas air laut. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan memilih serasah daun yang masih segar dan telah menguning sebanyak 10 gram yang dimasukkan pada kantong serasah berukuran 30 x 30 cm. Pengambilan kantong serasah pada interval 14 dan 28 hari. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kandungan C berkisar 38,65% - 49,45% untuk Avicennia dan 39,17% - 45,27% untuk Sonneratia sedangkan kandungan N berkisar 0,881% - 2,577% untuk Avicennia dan 0,729% - 2,246% untuk Sonneratia pada suhu 27,4°C - 33,2°C, salinitas 12%o - 20%o, pH 6,75 - 7,19 dalam suasana netral dan tingkat penggenangan air laut.
