Abstract

The availability of valid and effective textbooks in local history learning is minimal at the school level. Local history lessons in schools have also not received special attention in history learning because they are still Indonesian-centric. It is time for students to know their local history and of course, this need is accompanied by solutions in order to achieve learning objectives. This research answers these problems, namely to develop a chronological thinking-based textbook on the material of the Japanese occupation in Palembang that is valid and effective. This research was conducted in class XI IPA 2 SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang with the ADDIE model development procedure. Product validity was assessed by three validators, namely material experts, print media experts, and grammar experts. The assessment in terms of material is 4.33 with a very valid category, print media 4.04 with a valid category, and grammar 4.60 with a very valid category. The effectiveness of this product is carried out at the implementation stage with an increase in learning outcomes of 60.77% with an N-gain of 0.9. This shows that this research has answered the problem by developing a chronological thinking-based textbook on the material of Japanese colonialism in Palembang that is valid and effective in-class XI IPA 2 SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang.
