Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang alat pengupas tempurung kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari 2005 sampai dengan bulan April 2005 di Laboratorium Alat dan Mesin Prapanen. Program Studi Teknik Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ada tiga yaitu : 1) Tahap pendekatan rancangan dan analisis teknis. 2) Tahap pembuatan alat 3) Tahap Pengujian alat. Alat pengupas ini dirancang sedemikian rupa dan sederhana agar mudah digunakan, dibersihkan dan dipelihara serta mudah dipindahkan atau digunakan diberbagai tempat tanpa mengabaikan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil pengupas tempurung kelapa. Hasil penelitian diperoleh Total daya yang dibutuhkan untuk memutar poros pada motor listrik adalah 843.10^* kw or 1348.10-4 hp. Gaya yang dibutuhkan untuk memecahkan tempung kelapa adalah 11,506 N. Kapasitas alat secara teoritis adalah 110,45 buah.jam"1 dan kapasitas efektif alat adalah 14,53 buah.jam'1. Efisiensi alat adalah sebesar 13 %.
