Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendesain model bak tanam sistem aeroponik untuk tanaman selada (Lactuca sativa L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di greenhouse Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, dari bulan April sampai Juli 2005. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan empat tahapan desain pendahuluan rancangan bak tanam yang meliputi rancangan fungsional dan struktural, perhitungan hidrolika, penentuan kebutuhan daya pompa, dan biaya pembuatan alat dan biaya tetap. Hasil penelitian berupa bak tanam dengan ukuran panjang 2 meter, lebar 1 meter dan tinggi 0,6 meter. Tanaman yang dibudidayakan berupa selada dengan jarak tanam 15 cm x 15 cm sehingga diperoleh populasi 60 tanaman. Alas tanaman berupa Styrofoam berukuran panjang 2 meter, lebar 1 meter, dan tebal 3 cm. Sedangkan untuk hidrolikanya menggunakan pipa PVC dengan panjang 1,5 m, pipa manifold berdiameter 1 in dengan panjang 0,15 m. Tenaga pompa yang dibutuhkan adalah 0,11 hp atau 82,06 W. Biaya yang diperlukan sebesar Rp 1.437.480,00 dengan biaya tetap Rp 555.000,00. Bak tanam mudah dirawat dan dibuat karena ukurannya kecil. Konstruksi bak tanam secara struktural dinilai aman. Rancangan struktural ini berdasarkan perhitungan hidrolika layak diterapkan untuk bak tanam system aeroponik meski biaya pembuatannya adalah mahal.
