Abstract
The isolation of steroid compound had been done from the leaf of daun dewa (Gynura pseudochina (Lour) DC) plant. Extraction was done by maceration, while the seperation and purification with vacum liquid chromatography and radial chromatografi techniques. The isolation compound was identified by analyzing UV, IR, and 'H-NMR spectral. Antibacterial activity test was measured by using disk diffusion method by using Escherichia coli bacterial and Basillus subtilis bacterial. The isolated compound was suggested as p-sitostenone. The antibacterial activity showed that the isolated compound has weak activity B. subtilis while it has no activity on E.coli if compared with positive control.
