Abstract

Separation of cellulose from sawmill of fumiture industry using methanol and hydrochloric acid (HC1) in various acid concentration has been carried out, cellulose was used as adsorbent for absorb metal ion Cr3* and Cu2+in aqueous medium. Cellulose from sawmill was characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy and XRD difraktometer. The characteristic of absorption were studied through time interaction the influence of concentration seguevental desorption and competition between metal ions. Infra Red spectrum showed that cellulose from sawmill with 5% acid concentration has fiinctional grup of OH in wav enumber 3420.7 Cm"1. Interaction of Cr34" and Cu2+ with cellulose gave adsorption rate contant in celluloce higher than in sawmill. Adsorption capacity of Cr3* and Cu2+ metal ions in celluloce from sawmill is bigger than in sawmill in the range of adsorption capacity 76,923 mol/g - 142,857 mol/g, adsorption equilibrium constant 0,464 L/mol - 2,333 L/mol and adsorption energy -2,11297 kJ/mol - 1,91504 kJ/mol. Percentage desorption of metal ions in celluloce and sawmill is dominated with hydrochloric acid (HC1) as desorption reagent indicated the involvement of acid-base reaction in the adsorption process.
