Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tipe estuaria berdasarkan penyebaran salinitas di muara Sungai Musi (Sungsang). Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 8 - 10 juni 2011 di daerah Muara Sungsang Sumatera Selatan. Penentuan titik sampling dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Pengukuran sampel dilakukan secara in situ di lapangan dan pengolahan data menggunakan Ocean data view (ODV). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan pada saat kondisi perairan pasang pengaruh air laut tidak terlalu jauh masuk ke sungai hingga ke perairan Sungsang dan pada saat kondisi surut pengaruh air sungai sangat berpengaruh terhadap air laut sehingga pengaruh salinitas hanya sampai perairan sekitar Tanjung Carat. Berdasarkan struktur salinitasnya, perairan Muara Sungsang masuk ke dalam tipe estuaria tercampur sebagian (partially mixed estuary).
