Abstract

The aim of this research was to know ability of Pelawan leaves (Tristaniopsis merguensis) extract as reducing Ag+ to form silver nanoparticle. The research was carried out to find optimum condition by variation of temperatures (25, 50, 60, and 70 oC) and volume extracts (3, 6, and 9 mL). The monitoring formation of silver nanoparticle was exhibited from color change from yellow to red darkness. The confirmation of formed silver nanoparticle also analysis by UV-Vis every 0, 10, 20, 30, 60 minutes and 24 hour. Pelawan leaves extract were used as control. The optimum condition was obtained at 60oC and 9 mL extract volume. The further characterization of the optimum condition silver nanoparticle used XRD, SEM, and FTIR. The characterization by XRD, diffraction peaks observed at angels 2 theta of 37.86, 43.98, 64.31 and 77.20 which corresponded to the hkl (1 1 1), (2 0 0) (2 2 0) and (3 1 1). These result showed that the crystal structure of AgNPs formed was face center cubic (FCC) with lattice parameter a, of 4.1 A, The mean size calculated using the Debye-scherrer’s equation by determining the width of (1 1 1) Bragg’s reflection, the size of the nanoparticle was thus determined to be about 2210 for optimum. The activity of AgNPs against fungi infected mango i.e., Neofusicoccum parvum and Aspergiluspseudonomius by well diffusion method showed that the AgNPs effective as antifungal agent with diameter zones 8.51 and 7,95 mm respectively.
