Abstract

The purpose of the research was to find out working capacity through three harvest techniques and cost analysis of gambir. This research was conducted from July 2007 to March 2008 in Plantation Experiment of Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University and the Center of Gambir Production in Babat Toman, Musi Banyuasin. The technique applied for collecting the data was survey method. The data used in this research consited of primary and secondary data. Primary data was direct observation and interviewing the owner and the employees of industry, such as the time of harvesting process through three harvest techniques, and measure the weight produced. Secondary data was financial document’s of the industry. The result showed that the optimum combination harvesting work capacity through pangkas dalam was 27.16 kg hour'1 and the minimum combination harvesting work capacity through pangkas bersih technique was 20.59 kg hour'1. Work capacity through pangkas dalam technique produced the highest capacitycompared with the other techniques. The result of analysis effort showed that the industry of gambir was feasible to conduct with the profit Rp. 23,112,675.00 for one hektar in a year, with ratio B/C was 1,87.
