Abstract

column structure can overcome the problem of difficulty in compacting concrete due to the small spacing of column reinforcement. This study analyzes the behavior of self compacting concrete columns with variations in the distance of shear reinforcement to cyclic lateral loads. Column structural elements were modeled using the ANSYS program to obtain the results of column behavior analysis in the form of hysteresis curves, ductility, stress contours, stiffness and structural strength. Columns with different shear reinforcement distances were compared to determine their effect on column behavior. Column modeling with shear reinforcement spacing of 130 mm has greater lateral load strength than columns with shear reinforcement spacing of 300 mm. The ductility value of column V2 is greater than that of column V1 because of the shear reinforcement distance that is more tenuous in column V2 which makes the column structural elements not maximally restrained and the column undergoes structural yielding faster than the V1 model. The results showed that the structural elements of the self compacting concrete column with a shear reinforcement distance of 130 mm were able to withstand cyclic lateral loads better.
