Abstract

Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) performance test study with Pd/C catalyst on gas flow rate and varied PEMFC stack temperature has been conducted. The making of Pd/C catalyst electrodes was carried out by the spraying method. MEA was characterized by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) methods to obtain an ECSA value 442.54 g/cm2 and a conductivity value of 2.02×10-7 S/cm. Based on the I-V and I-P curves, the optimum condition that shows the best performance of MEA with Pd/C catalyst is at a flow rate of 300 mL/minute with a current density 9.6 mA/cm2 and maximum power density of 3.95 mW/cm2. Meanwhile, the optimum temperature achieved by MEA with a Pd/C catalyst is at a temperature of 40°C with current density 9.6 mA/cm2 and maximum power density of 3.97 mW/cm2.
