Abstract

The research objective was to achieve the best combination of lateral inlet pressure, nozzle shape, and nozzle angle of mobile-type spray irrigation system in term of maximum wetting width (m), Unifomity coefficient of watering (%) and nozzle discharge (L.min'1). The study was conducted at Laboratory of Agricultural Technology Departement, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya from January to April 2005. The experimental design used in this study was Factorial Randomized Completely Design using three factors treatment with three replication for every treatment combination. The first factor was lateral inlet pressures of Pi (15 psi) and P2 (20 psi), the second factor was nozzle shapes of B\ ( convergen nozzle) and B2 (divergen nozzle), and the third factor was nozzle angle of Di (45°), D2 (30°) and D3 (15°). The results showed that treatment of lateral inlet pressure, nozzle shapes and nozzle Angle had significant effect on maximum wetting width,uniformity coefficient of watering and nozzle discharge. Lateral inlet pressure of 20 psi (P2) produced greater effective wetting width of 1.79 m and higher nozzle discharge of 28.50 L.min . Treatment of nozzle angle of 45° (Di) produced higher wateringcoefficient uniformity of 90.07 % and higher maximum wetting width of 1.79 m. the best combination Treatment interaction isP2BiDi (lateral inlet pressure of 20 psi and convergen nozzle shape also nozzle degrees of 45°) produced the best maximum wetting width, the highest watering coefficient uniformity and the highest nozzle discharge.
