Abstract

Background. Motivation is defined as a mental force such as attention, needs, desires, and ideals that move and encourage to act in line with the goals to achieved. Strength Of Motivation For Medical School is a useful tool to conduct studies to reveal the relationship between motivation, teaching-learning process, academic success in medical students. There has not been adapted from the original language (English) in Indonesia. Method. This study uses validity and reliability approach. Process of study divided into adaptation process and analysis process. Analysis of SMMS Indonesian Version consists of Item Content Validity Analysis (I-CVI) & Scale Content Validity Index (S-CVI). SMMS Indonesian Version was spread amongst students of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine Batch 2018─2020. Analysis of Strength Of Motivation For Medical School Indonesian Version as Likert Scale was done by counting the coefficient of validity and coefficient of reliability. Result. SMMS Indonesian Version were obtained by adaptation process. Based on 6 experts’ appraisal in experts panel, minimum I-CVI is 0,83 (minimally accepted index 0,78) on the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,8th, and 10th scale and S-CVI is 0,94 (minimally accepted index 0,90).Validity score of all items of SMMS Indonesian Version are above accepted index (0,08) which defines SMMS Indonesian Version is valid and reliability score of SMMS Indonesian Version is obtained as 0,536 (minimally accepted index 0,6) which defines SMMS Indonesian Version is not appropriate to be used in study. Conclusion: Strength of Motivation For Medical School Indonesian Version is not aprropriate to be used in measuring motivation in students of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University.
