Abstract

The research objective was to study the effect of slice angle of knife, rotary speed of knife and tractor forward speed to the cutting effectivity and field capacity of slasher. The study was conducted from November 2007 to Juni 2008 at Workshop of Agricultural Technology Departement, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya Uni versi ty, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The research method consisted of three factors and three replication for each treatment. The first treatment was slice angle of knife ( 0°,15° and 30°), the second was the rotary speed of knife (900 rpm, 1,100 rpm and 1,600 rpm) and the third was tractor forward speed (13 km/h, 1.7 km/h and 23 km/h). The parameters vvere the time for cutting seage grass and the percentage of uncut seage grass. The result showed that the treatment combination of 30° of slice angle, 1,600 rpm of rotary speed of knife and 13 km/h of tractor forward speed had highest catting efectivity (99.2 %) , but the highest field capacity (2.60 ha/h) was obtained by combination of30° of slice angle, 900 rpm of rotary speed of knife and 23 ha/h of tractor forward speed.
