Abstract

This research was aimed to test the performance of the ultrasonic HC-SR04 sensor based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller which used to measure the surface height of Crude Palm Oil in the absorption device. The research was conducted from October 2018 to July 2019 at PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Unit Pabrik Kelapa Sawit Talang Sawit. The method used in the study was divided into several stages respectively were conducting system analysis, designing the control system, testing and observing the control system, and analysis of experimental results. The data observed in this study were CPO surface height, time, flow rate, electric power, sensor accuracy, sensor precision, CPO volume and speed of the mixing bar. The results showed that the CPO surface height control system worked well according to the program. The average height of CPO measured by the sensor during the operation of the electric motor was 6.17 cm, while average height during pump operation was 8.93 cm. The average value of sensor accuracy for electric motor operation was 84,13% and the average precision value was 91.44%. The average value of sensor accuracy for pump operation was 85.00% and the average precision value was 90.61%. The average need for electrical power needed by the absorption device to operate was 749.24 W.
