Abstract

This study located on Pullo Panggung and surrounding area, Muara Enim districts, South Sumatra Province. Geologically, study area is a part of Late Miocene-Pliocene Muara Enim formation in South Sumatra basin. Study area divided into six geomorphological unit, they are river bed (F1), point bar (F4), denudational slopes and hills (D1), anticline hill (S9A), sincline hill (S9B) and intrution hill (V15). Stratigraphic unit of study area consists of five units. According from oldest to youngest are Late Miocene-Pliocene Muaraenim claystone unit, Late Miocene-Pliocene Muaraenim sandstone unit, Plio-Pleistocene Kasai sandstone unit, Plio-Pleistocene claystone unit, and Pleistocene andesite unit. Compression structures regime well developed in study area. Tanjung Lalan anticline or Upright Horizontal Fold (Fluety, 1964) shown northwest-southeast axis fold trends, Bukit Kendi anticline or steeply inclined moderately plunging fold (Fluety,1964) shown northwest-southeast axis fold trends and Sleman syncline or Steepy Inclined Gently Plunging Fold (Fluety, 1964) shown north-south axis fold trends. Besides, there are dextral transform fault in same trend direction. In Muaraenim claystone unit of study area, there are three coal layers. They are seam C, seam B, and seam A2. The thickness of seam C ranges between 3,25 m – 9,25 m. Seam B has thickness ranges between 7,59 m – 13,43 m. The thickness of seam A2 ranges between 6 m – 7m. Ash contents of Muaraenim M2 coal layer in northern part and southern part shows high value, while in the middle part of its ash contents is low.
