Abstract

Various attempts to treat bone defects have been found, one of which is by using replacement materials for damaged bones. HA was chosen as a candidate for bone graft material because it has a structure similar to human bone. HA powder was synthesized by calcination method at 600˚C for 1 hour. HA power result measuring is 2 - 8 µm. The fluid is used as a powder mixture to enhance its characteristics. HA ceramics were synthesized by cold sintering method at temperatures of 100, 120, and 150˚C with a pressure of 500 Mpa for 10 minutes. The percentage of HA ceramic porosity is 39.1149% to 48.0725%. The resulting compressive strength value is 19.584 Mpa to 34.0224 Mpa. Where the density and compressive strength of the methanol mixture is better than NaOH. In the XRD observation, there were no differences in peaks in the HA powder and ceramic which had been mixed with fluid, which means that the fluid did not affect the HA phase. The pores of HA ceramics on SEM observations are micron in size whereas the pores of the methanol mixture are smaller than the NaOH mixture.
