Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of temperature and blower speed on maggot dryer machine. The method used was Factorial Randomized Block Design which consist two treatment factors, namely drying temperature (A) and blower speed (B). Each factor consists of three levels of treatment. The treatment level for drying temperature consisted of 55°C, 60°C , and 65°C while the treatment level for the blower speed consisted of 1700 rpm, 2000 rpm and 2300 rpm. The results showed that the treatment of the drying temperature had a real different on the drying rate and material weight reduction but unreal effect on the consumption of electrical energy. The treatment of blower speed had a real different on the drying rate, material weight reduction and the consumption of electrical energy. The combination treatment of drying temperature 65°C and the blower speed 1700 rpm (A3B1) had the highest average of drying rate and material weight reduction which sequentially is 31.88 g/jam dan 63.77 g, while the lowest average of drying rate and material weight reduction found in treatment of drying temperature 55°C and the blower speed 1700 rpm (A1B1) which sequentially is 18.22 g/jam dan 36.43 g. The higher the drying temperature, the higher the consumption of electrical energy.
