Abstract

The research about isolation and characterization lactic acid bacteria which has potential to produce antimicrobia’s compound from rubber seed’s bekasam, has done between September 2001 - September 2002 at Laboratory of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Departement of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Basic Science University of Sriwijaya. The purpose of the research is to get isolat and character of lactic acid bacteria from rubber seed’s bekasam which has potential to produce antimikrobia’s compound. The rubber seed makes to “bekasam” use the comparison among rubber seed : rice : salt = 7:2:1 and than rubber seed’s “bekasam” is incubanated for a week. After one week, the isolation and characterization of lactic acid bacteria which has potential to produce antimicrobia’s compound can be done. Result founds three lactic acid bacteria, i.e : BK1 is a kind of Lactobacillus sp, BK2 and BK3 are two kinds of streplococcus sp. In antimicrobia’s test, all of the lactic acid bacteria have a potential to produce the antimicrobia 's compound.
