Abstract
Increased human activity in recent years along the Musi River flow has an impact on the ecosystems of the Musi River estuary, one of the impacts of increased suspended solids and dissolved in the mouth of the river. The aims of this study to determine the concentration and distribution of suspended solids and dissolved solids at high and low tide. Water sampling conducted on July 8- 10, 2011 at the mouth of the Musi River at high tide and low tide, South Sumatra, then continued the analysis of water samples at the Laboratory of Marine Biology Laboratory, Departement of Marine Science, Sriwijaya University on July 21, 2011 to August 3, 2011 analyze. These results indicate that the concentration of suspended solids and dissolved solids in the waters of the Musi River estuary at low tide is higher than the tide at low tide suspended solids values 40-355 mg / 1, pairs of 30-260 mg / 1, the dissolved solids at low tide 100 - 1210 mg / 1, pairs of 20-600 mg /1. Distribution of suspended solids at low tide the higher heading out to sea, toward the river at high and low tide distribution of dissolved solids in the direction of the higher sea at high tide while increasing the dissolved solids over the river estuary. Concentration of suspended solids in general have passed the quality Standard KEP.MENLH No.51 of 2004, while dissolved solids generally not passed the quality Standard based on Government Regulation No.16 of 2005 South Sumatra.
