Abstract

Pemanfaatan limbah batubara berupa Fly Ash yang dimanfaatkan menjadi bahan pembuatan komposit akan menekan angka limbah fly ash batubara. Metalurgi serbuk merupakan metode yang digunakan dengan komposisi sebesar kalsium karbonat 40%, fly ash 55% serta zinc stearat 5%. Sebelum dilakukan kompaksi, material CaCO3 dan Fly Ash dilakukan Uji XRD dan Pengayakan serbuk untuk mengetahui kandungan serbuk serta ukuran mesh yang digunakan. Beban kompaksi dilakukan dengan trial eror untuk mendapatkan kompaksi tekanan rendah yang baik, setelah itu dilakukan variasi tekanan yang digunakan 3300 Psi (22,75 MPa), 3400 Psi (23,45 MPa) , 3500 Psi (24,14 MPa) dan 3600 Psi (24,83 MPa) menggunakan penekanan single punch dengan waktu tahan sekitar 10 menit. Setelah itu sintering dilakukan pada temperatur 900 C selama 1 jam. Untuk mengidentifikasi hasil komposit dilakukan beberapa pengujian yaitu pengujian densitas, pengujian keausan, dan pengamatan struktur mikro menggunakan SEM. Nilai densitas meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya beban kompaksi dengan densitas apparent tertinggi sebesar 1,794 g/cm3 serta persentase porositas tertinggi pada tekanan 22,75 MPa (3300 Psi) sebesar 31,155 %. Nilai keausan spesifik menurun seiring dengan penambahan beban kompaksi dengan nilai spesifik abrasi terendah sebesar 1,17 x 10-6 mm2/kg.
