Abstract

Research on "Plankton Community in the Water of Aur Lake SumberHarta District MusiRawas Regency in South Sumatra" was held in May and June 2013. This study aims to determine the plankton community including the abundance of plankton, variety of plankton, dominance plankton, and the similarity between the stations. The study was conducted by using survey method, while the determination of the station by using Purposive Sampling method to determine the sampling point. Identification of plankton samples has doiie at the Aiiimal Taxoridmy Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Sriwijaya, Inderalaya.The research was found 45 species of plankton that consists of 9 classes namely Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae, Chrysophyceae, Crustaceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Rotaroria, and Cilliata. Abundance of planktons in the water of Aur Lake classified as medium - high, ranging from 122-340 ind/L. Index variery of plankton was classified in medium categories ranged ffom 2.19-2.94. The dominance index of plankton in the waters of Aur Lake ranged from 0.43-0.5 showed that there was not dominate of the plankton. The Similarity Inter-Index Station approximately with the same value about44%-76%.
