Abstract

Penelitian mengenai “Isolasi, Karakterisasi, dan Identifikasi Bakteri Endofitik Penghasil Senyawa Antibakteri dari Brotowali (Tinospora crispa (L.) Miers)” telah dilakukan pada bulan Mei 2009 sampai dengan Januari 2010 di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Sriwijaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan isolat bakteri endofitik penghasil senyawa yang bersifat antibakteri dari Brotowali (Tinospora crispa (L.) Miers) dan mengetahui genus bakteri endofitik penghasil senyawa yang bersifat antibakteri dari Brotowali (Tinospora crispa (L.) Miers) berdasarkan karakteristik yang dimiliki. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi Agar, dengan bakteri uji Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 5 isolat bakteri endofitik yang mampu menghasilkan senyawa yang bersifat antibakteri. Isolat tersebut tergolong dalam genus Erwinia, Serratia, Listeria, Bacillus, dan Pseudomonas. Genus Basillus merupakan genus yang paling menghambat terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus.
