Abstract

Consumption is an activity that is always done by the household to meet the needs of daily life consisting of the consumption of food and not food. Household consumption needs also change following income levels and following changes in conditions that occur. Study objectives: (1) Calculating household income in Palembang City before and during the Covid-19 Pandemic, (2) Calculating household food and non-food expenditures in Palembang City before and during the Covid-19 Pandemic, (3) Analyzing changes in consumption patterns and household welfare levels in Palembang City. The method used is the survey method. The study was conducted in January 2022 with a total of 60 respondents. Data processing methods use mathematical calculations and are analyzed with the t test (Paired Sample T-test). The results showed that household income before and during the covid-19 pandemic in Palembang City decreased by 22.29% or decreased from Rp36,043,833 to Rp28,009,175. Average household consumption expenditure in Palembang City decreased from Rp19,537,000 before the pandemic to Rp19,017,900 during the covid-19 pandemic. As for household food expenditure increased by 6.03% and for non-household food expenditure decreased by 13.08%. Based on the analysis carried out, the results show that there are significant changes in consumption patterns and household walfare levels farmers and non-farmers in Palembang City due to the covid-19 pandemic.
