Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan material Plat Stainless Steel 304 sebagai material turbin undershot menggunakan simulasi Solidworks berdasarkan hasil kekuatan mekanik. Ada dua metode yang digunakan dalam studi ini: metode analitik untuk menentukan geometri turbin undershot, dan metode simulasi digunakan untuk memprediksi kekuatan mekaniknya. Dari hasil analitik, turbin undershot memiliki 12 jumlah sudu dengan laju aliran 16 kg/s (160 Newton). Dari hasil simulasi, kekuatan mekanik plat Stainless steel 304 sebagai material turbin undershot menggunakan Solidworks direkomendasikan untuk digunakan. Ini karena nilai Von mises stress material tidak melebihi nilai maksimum yield strength plat steinless steel 304 yaitu 205 MPa. Artinya, material plat steinless steel 304 untuk menjadi bahan dasar turbin undershot aman dan kuat sehingga bisa untuk digunakan menjadi material turbin undershot.
