Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using hand puppets on the skills of listening to fairy tales in Class II SD Negeri 68 Palembang. This research is a research using quasi-experimental method, with research design Noneequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all second grade students at SD Negeri 68 Palembang. The sample in this study were 24 students who were taken using a systematic sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a multiple-choice test. The data analysis technique used is the Paired Sample t-test which has previously been tested for normality and homogeneity tests first. The results showed that in the experimental group the average pretest value was 53.75 and the posttest average was 91.25. Meanwhile, in the control group, the average pretest score was 50.42 and the posttest average was 77.08. The results obtained from the calculation of the Paired Sample t-test with a significant level of = 0.05, obtained sig. 0.004 < 0.05. Based on the results of the Paired Sample t-test, it can be concluded that the use of hand puppets as a medium for listening skills has a significant effect because it can improve learning outcomes for listening to fairy tales for class II SD Negeri 68 Palembang.
