Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) of the Lilyceae family originating from West Asia are one of the horticultural commodities that are often used as food seasonings. Shallots are annual plants that have fibrous roots with hollow cylindrical leaves and layered tubers. This study aims to determine the effect of giving jengkol skin compost and cow manure on the growth and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) Bima Brebes variety. This research was conducted in Tanjung Raya Village, Kec. Rambang (3°33'14.3"S 104 11 34.1"E), Muara Enim, South Sumatra. Conducted in December 2021 to February 2022. This study used the Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) method. The first factor is the dose of jengkol skin compost and the second factor is the dose of cow manure. The dose of jengkol skin compost (K), namely: K0 Control; K1, 20 ton ha (80 g/ polybag): K2= 40 ton ha-1 (160 g/ polybag); K3= 60 tons ha (240 g/ polybag) and the dose of cow manure (S) consisted of S0= Control; S1;= 30 ton ha (120 g/ polybag): S2 = 40 ton ha (160 g/ polybag): S3= 50 ton ha (200 g/ polybag). Parameters observed included analysis of nutrient content of jengkol peel, leaf length per plant, number of leaves per plant, number of tillers per plant, number of tubers per plant, tuber diameter, weight of fresh tuber per plant, and weight of wind-dried tuber per plant. The results of the study concluded that the interaction of giving jengkol skin compost and cow manure did not affect the growth and yield of shallot plants except for the treatment of jengkol skin compost at a dose of 60 tons ha gave the best results on the parameters of onion plant length 14 DAP and a dose of 40 tons. ha gave the best results on leaf length parameters at 21 DAP. And the interaction of giving 60 tons ha of jengkol skin compost (K) and cow manure (S) at a dose of 30 tons ha-1 gave a very significant effect on the increase in the number of shallot tillers 21 DAP
