Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the type of growing media on robusta coffee seedlings. This research was conducted in, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, and the research was started in April 2021 - Agustus 2021. The study used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments, each treatment was repeated 4 times and there were 20 experimental units, each consisting of 5 plants. The treatments were differentiated based on the composition of the growing media, consisting of P1 (top soil media without mixture), P2 (top soil media + cow manure (2:1)), P3 (top soil media + OPEFB compost fertilizer (2:1) ), P4 (topsoil media + OPEFB compost (1:2)), P5 (top soil media + dose of NPK fertilizer recommended by the journal (1.5 g / polibeg)). The data obtained from the results of the study were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), a follow-up test procedure used to determine the difference between treatments, consisting of the Least Significant Deferences (LSD) 5%.The results of this study showed that the composition of top soil growing media + EFB fertilizer (2:1) gave the highest increase in plant height (cm) and growth in the number of leaves (strands), while the results of the increase in stem diameter (mm), fresh weight (g) and dry weight plants (g), root weight (g), crown weight (g) and the highest root crown ratio (g) were obtained from the treatment of top soil + NPK (1.5 g/polibeg). The best OPEFB (Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch) compost is with the composition of top soil media + Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) compost (2:1) as a mixture of planting media for the growth of robusta coffee seedlings from cuttings.
