Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of World Wide Fund for Nature ( WWF ) in protecting the Pongo Abelii species in Sumatra . A very significant decline in Pongo abelii populations has made WWF taking its role as International Non Govermental Organization to participate in this Indonesian endemic which can only be found on the island of Sumatra . This research is supported by using the concept the role of International Non Govermental Organizatins ( INGO ) of David Lewis , be composed of three role is Impleme nter catalysts , and partnerships , where the three roles have different roles in protecting Pongo Abelii species in Sumatera . This research method used is descriptive qualitative , this methods aims to describe related facts linked to the reseach problems in words . The research is collected from literature review , documentations , online data search and interview . The final results of this paper will try to show that WWF has been succeeded to take its role as an International Non Govermental Organization engaged to flora and fauna conservation in dealing with protect Pongo Abelii species in Sumatera . This is marked existence enchanment popualtion spesies Pongo Abelii from 2003 2019. The role of WWF is quite significant in protecting the Pongo Abelii species in Sumatera .
