Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of sense of humor on loneliness in early single adults. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a role for a sense of humor on loneliness in early single adults. This study used 201 early adult respondents who were still single, and 50 single early adult respondents were used for the trial. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used in this study uses a loneliness scale based on the dimensions of loneliness from Cacioppo et al, (2015) and uses a sense of humor scale based on the dimensions of Thorson and Powell (1993).Data analysis using simple regression technique. From the results of the analysis, it was obtained that the R square value was 0.056, the F value was 11.862 and the significance value was 0.001 (p <0.005). This shows that a sense of humor has a significant role in loneliness. Thus the hypothesis of this study can be accepted where the contribution of sense of humor to loneliness is 5.6%.
