Abstract

Coal is a very complex mixture of various elements with different qualities. The difference in quality is caused by changes in coal quality parameters. Coal in the stockpile usually has a lower average calorie than that in the front. To find out the difference in the value of coal quality parameters, it is necessary to carry out periodic inspections. Coal quality parameters consist of total moisture, ash content, volatile matter, total sulfur, and coal calorific value. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of changes in the value of coal quality parameters in the front and stockpile, to determine the causes of changes in the value of coal quality parameters, to analyze the efforts that can be made to maintain the quality of coal and how much coal quality parameters can affect the calorific value of coal. This research was conducted by processing data from laboratory test results of coal quality at the front and in the stockpile using multiple linear regression in the SPSS application. The results showed that TM changed 0.37154% - 1.46220%, VM changed 0.36617% - 1.33649%, CV changed 86.93823 Kcal/kg – 256.06177 Kcal/kg, CV changed 3.83604%- 1.73863% and TS changed stockpile 0.10415%-0.00148%. The causes of changes in the value of coal quality parameters are dust, parting, rainfall, non-uniform coal size, garbage on the mining front, and impurities in the support unit. One of the things that can be applied to maintain the stability of coal quality is watering the haul road from the front loading to the gutter regularly. From the results of multiple linear regression, the equation determines the magnitude of the influence of the parameters on the caloric value: CV = 3334,220 – 33,598 TM – 46,860 AC + 76,985 VM + 23,613 TS.
