Abstract

This study analyzes fuel cells in Gas Cooled Fast Reactor (GFR) based on Uranium Nitride (UN) against variations in composition and with the addition of minor actinide using OpenMC. Variations in fuel composition are carried out by changing the percentage of U235 content from 0% to 10%. The results showed that the greater the composition of U235, the higher the Keff value and the reaction rate. Meanwhile, the flux distribution in the center shows the distribution of the most neutrons and the fewer as they move away from the center. Furthermore, when the U235 content was at 5%, minor actinide was added in the form of Am241 and Cm244. The addition of this minor actinide aims to reduce the use of uranium and utilize nuclear waste.
