Abstract
The liquid waste of the jumputan fabric industry contains various heavy metals derived from synthetic dyes, one of which is chromium. One of the efforts to overcome pollution due to liquid waste of jumputan cloth is phytoremediation. Equisetum hyemale Lour. is an aquatic plant that can accumulate heavy metals, but its adaptability to jumputan fabric wastewater using an artificial wetland system is not yet known. So it is necessary to conduct research with the aim of knowing the potential, concentration limits that can be remedied and the response of E. hyemale in phytoremediation of jumputan fabric wastewater with artificial wetland systems (CWs). The results showed that Equisetum hyemale was able to live on phytoremediation of liquid waste from jumputan cloth, 75% concentration of liquid waste, pH 7.7 with a relative growth rate of 0.3291 g/day. With a potential increase in pH of 0.0034 per day, and a potential decrease in chromium content of 0.3333 mg/L per day. The response of E. hyemale at a concentration of 75% liquid waste was found to change the roots and stems which changed color to black and the apex of the stem died.
