Abstract

Onggok is solid waste from industrial products from cassava raw materials. The strategy for overcoming onggok is to use it as a feed ingredient for Hermetia illucens maggots. Maggot H. illucens which is often known as bioconversion of organic waste. Feeding maggot must pay attention to the nutritional intake received by maggot. Carbon and nitrogen are important elements for maggot growth, but these elements are limiting factors for maggot growth. There is little information about the carbon and nitrogen ratio in tapioca waste as feed for H. illucens maggots, so this study was conducted to determine a good carbon and nitrogen ratio for growth and consumption rate of H. illucens maggots. The research will be carried out from October to December 2021. The onggok waste weighed 1 kg and added 10 g of Aspergillus niger. The composition of the growing media after 5 days of onggok waste, pineapple peel, and coconut pulp was fermented. Maintenance of H. illucens maggots is carried out for up to 15 days. Measurement of C/N levels was carried out when onggok after fermentation, measurements were carried out in the laboratory. Measurement of temperature, pH, consumption rate, length, weight, and width. The average rate of consumption of H. illucens maggot on tapioca onggok media was the highest at a C/N ratio of 27:1 in the treatment of 50% fermented tapioca cassava with a composition of 25% pineapple peel and 25% coconut pulp of 1.64 g/day and the lowest was 1.64 g/day. at a 31:1 C/N ratio treatment of 100% tapioca cassava without fermentation, the consumption rate was 1 g/day. The average weight, length, and width of the H. illucens maggots were highest in the 39:1 C/N ratio in the P2 treatment, with weights of 0.185 mg, 7.294 mm and width of 2.429 mm. The lowest average was 31:1 C/N ratio in P0 treatment, weight 0.044 mg, length 3.748 mm, and width 1.268 mm.
