Abstract

Rubber plant (Hevea brassiliensis) is a leading commodity of plantation crops that grows in various regions in Indonesia, originating from Brazil and entering Indonesia in 1876. This commodity plays an important role as a source of non-oil and gas foreign exchange, industrial raw materials, as well as a source of income for farming families. Rubber productivity in Indonesia is low with the quality of the rubber produced is not good. This occurs due to disease disorders, one of which is leaf fall desease caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. The use of various plant extracts as vegetable fungicides can be used to control rubber leaf fall desease. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of extracts of galangal (Alpinia galangal), turmeric (Curcuma longa), and ginger (Zingiber officianale) in inhibiting the growth od Colletotrichum gloeosporioides which causes rubber leaf fall desease. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) Which consisted of 7 replication and 4 treatments. Parameters observed were incubation period, intensity of attack, percentage of attack, number of spots and number of fallen leaves. Based on the results of the study, shown that from the use of galangal extract, turmeric extract and ginger extract that had an effect on inhibiting the growth of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides which causes rubber leaf fall desease, namely galangal extract, because the active compounds contained in galangal extract are antifungal.
