Abstract

Mother's knowledge is very important for children's health conditions, especially during a Covid-19 pandemic, because children, especially at the age of 6 to 36 months can’t take care of their own health without their parent’s help. To maximize Covid-19 prevention in children, one of many ways that can be done is to apply the 5M method, but in its application there are still many obstacles, caused by the mother's low knowledge about covid-19, the transmission’s danger, and the benefits of its application as a transmission’s preventive measure. The purpose of this study was to analyze the adoption or acceptance of toddlers towards the application of the 5M method of preventing Covid-19 in South Indralaya District. The number of samples is 100 people who are taken using non-probability sampling incidental technique. The instrument used is a questionnaire, which then analyzed by chi-square test. The results of the study based on chi-square analysis with an error level of alpha = 0.05 between awareness, interest, evaluation, and trial, the results obtained were awareness (p = 0,000; PR=2,317; CI= 1,542 – 3,482), interest (p = 0,000; PR=5,786; CI= 2, 303 – 14, 535), evaluation (p = 0,040; PR=1,493; CI= 1,031 – 2,162), and trial (p = 0,000; PR=2,700; CI= 1,565 – 4,658), Age (p = 1,000; PR= 1,034; CI= 0,740 – 1,445), education (p = 0,874; PR=1, 087; CI= 0,738 - 3,294). The conclusion in this study was 64% of mothers and toddlers have a low adoption rate of the 5M method of preventing Covid-19 and that there were relation between awareness, interest, evaluation, and trial on the acceptance (adoption) of the 5M method of preventing Covid-19 in mothers of toddlers. Researchers suggest to Ogan Ilir district health office that In carrying out the socialization of Covid-19 prevention measures, it is necessary to pay attention to all communities to remote settlements so that everything goes well and these activities are effective, targeted, and effective in increasing public health behavior.
