Abstract

Using a renewable energy such as solar energy is a potential thing in Indonesia nowadays because of its geographical position located between the equator. The energy can be done by using photovoltaic (PV). However, excessive radiation and high ambient temperature due to the irradiation cause high surface temperatures of the PV panels and decrease its karena efficiency. This study was conducted to increase the efficiency of PV panels by using a perforated trapezoidal corrugated aluminum plate as a PV’s cooling system. It was carried out for 14 days by comparing the efficiency between PV panels installed with perforated flat plate and corrugated trapezoidal plate at the back of the PV surface. Both plates have the same dimensions of 96 cm x 60 x 0.2 cm and diameter of 1 cm. The results known that alumunium corrugated trapezoidal plate are able to decrease the panel surface temperature up to 7.6% lower than PV panel without cooler. Therefore, the electricity produced better with power output increasing by 13%. The PV panel worked with optimal temperature so that the efficiency increases by 4% greater
