Abstract

This study aims to determine and study the performance of the modified digital sylus brand coffee grinder CG05 model using DC and AC electrical energy sources for the manufacture of robusta coffee powder. The research method used is descriptive method with milling size test treatment on a coffee grinding machine. The milling size test consisted of six types of treatment, namely No.2, No.5, No.10, No.16, No.25, and No.31 settings. In each milling size treatment, two sources of electric current are used, namely DC (direct current) and AC (alternating current). Based on the research that has been carried out, the highest results from all parameters are milling capacity of 7.16 kg/hour at AC current, milling yield of 99.39% at AC current, electrical energy consumption of 186.13 Wh with AC current, voltage 230 V at AC current, electrical power 186.13 W at AC current, engine power efficiency 0.90% at AC and DC current, percentage passing 98.33% sieve on AC current and percentage not passing sieve 77.67% with DC inverter and the lowest yield is the milling capacity of 6.56 kg/hour with DC inverter, milling yield with DC inverter is 91.11%., consumption of electrical energy is 98.15 Wh at AC current, voltage using DC inverter is 224.3 V, electric power 98.15 W with AC current, engine power efficiency 0.84% on AC and DC current, percentage of passing sieve 19.44% with DC inverter and percentage of not passing sieve 0.33% on AC current.
