Abstract

The research objective was to determine the performance of the sylus digital coffee grinder model CG05 using DC and AC electrical energy sources for grinding Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.). The research method used is a descriptive method with a fine-tuning level test treatment. The grinding machine fineness test consists of six types of treatment, namely number 2 (Fine), number 5 (Middle Fine), number 10 (Middle), number 16 (Middle), number 25 (Middle Coarse), and number 31 (Coarse). At each time treatment, two sources of electric energy were used, namely DC (direct current) and AC (alternating current). The results showed that the treatment using DC or AC electric energy resulted in a milling capacity and milling yield that were not much different. The highest electrical energy consumption occurred in setting number 2 using AC electric current, which was 169.84 Wh, the highest voltage occurs in settings number 2 and 5 using AC electric energy, which is 229 V, the highest electric power occurs in setting number 2 using AC electric current, which is 169.84 watts, and the highest engine power efficiency occurs in setting number 2 using an LF DC Inverter which is 0.90%.
