Abstract

The study to the influence of blade geometry of Darrieus water turbine was done experimentally in water stream flow. The blades have variable thickness and geometry which are correspond to NACA 0015, 0020,0030 and the other blade is NACA 4424. The measurements were conducted in a channel of irrigation in Lubuk Linggau with constant stream velocity 0,8 m/s. The results show that for symmetrical blades, the curves of performance are similar but difference in values where the smallest the blade thickness the higher the power coefficient and the tip speed ratio operation range from1,8 to 2,5. For the unsymmetrical blade (NACA 4424), the power coefficient and the speed of operation of turbine are lower than that one of symmetrical blade.
