Abstract

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus will continue to increase every year. This disease is difficult to control, and if not handled properly, it will cause acute and chronic complications in the body. If there is an increase in complications and worsening glycemic control, it will affect the quality of life of people with diabetes mellitus. Strategies that can be applied in overcoming the decline in the quality of life of these patients are empowerment and increased participations of the community, one of which is through the program of Integrated Development Post of Non-Communicable Diseases (Posbindu PTM). This study aimed to determine the relationship between the program of Posbindu PTM and the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus. This is a non-experimental quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study was 40 respondents obtained from non-probability sampling with accidental sampling technique using inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using chi-square test with value interpretation (α = 0.05). The result obtained was p value = 0.000 (p value < α) indicating that there was a significant relationship between the program of Posbindu PTM and the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus. Almost all respondents had a moderate quality of life since the program attended by sufferers was mostly good. The results showed that there was a relationship between the program of Posbindu PTM and the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus. The implementation of Posbindu PTM which was held routinely, in accordance with the regulations of Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, and attended by patients with diabetes mellitus could improve their quality of life.
