Abstract

The period of waterlogging is very difficult to predict by farmers, high waterlogging in lowland swamp land causes several problems in the scope of agriculture such as rice cultivation. This study aims to determine the growth response of BC1F1 accession and parent varieties Inpago 5 and Inpara 8 planted in buckets and soaked in experimental pond to test the response of plants in submerged conditions. It is suspected that BC1F1 and in-laws Inpara 8 have sub1 genes that are able to tolerate submerged stress conditions, while Inpago 5 is an elder that has resistant properties to drought stress. This research was conducted in the greenhouse and concrete water tank of the Department of agricultural cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from March to June 2021. The design used was non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications to evaluate growth response of the three varieties. The data obtained from the observations and measurements were analized using analysis of variance and fulther tested by 5% level of least significance difference test (LSD) to evaluate the three varieties tested. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there were some rice accessions of BC1F1 that have submerged stress tolerant properties similar to Inpara 8, because it has a higher average yield compared to Inpago 5 and has a better response in the growth analysis.
