Abstract

Fracture is a loss of continuity of tissue in bone, either completely or partially caused by physical trauma, injury to surrounding soft tissue, muscle damage, tendon rupture, injury to organs or damage to blood vessels. The main complaint is often found in fracture patients is the pain. Pain is a subjective condition in which a person shows verbal and nonverbal discomfort. Interventions that can be given to reduce pain is cold compress therapy because pharmacological management itself is not sufficient to overcome pain in fracture patients. Describes the results of the implementation of pediatric nursing practice that is focused on nursing care for children with fractures in accordance with evidence-based learning. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach in pediatric patients with fractures. There were 5 nursing problems raised in the three patients managed in fracture patients which consisted of the same main complaint, namely pain. Interventions are given to reduce pain in patients managed by using cold compress therapy. After the nursing intervention was given, there was a decrease in the pain scale in the three patients managed. The nursing care provided to the three managed patients started from assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The implications of cold compress therapy showed that there was decreasing the pain’s scale from 4 to 1 in the three patients managed.
